H54F: A little of this and that

To be honest everyday feels like Friday during summer and to be completely honest I am a little ready to get back into the swing of things!
Summer is usually pretty predictable and the school year well...
 Florida summers means afternoon storms
hello downpour
 Walks with Rue
when it is not raining
 Games with the family
I lost at Skip-bo
Projects inspired by pinterest of course
Trips to cute little places like The Lollicake Queen

and today on this Friday a visit to the beach
Sad to say I live 20 minutes from a beach and this is my second time venturing out there.

Hope your week was lovely as well!

H54F: Numero Uno

I have been loving high five for Friday from the blog From My Grey Desk. So I decided to join in the festivities!
surprise text from B&BW for $8 candles
Finally hunted down these two books for my classroom...Hello poetry
Planning a yarn/string mural for my classroom wall
 Ikea trip with my mom
Ruth learned a new "trick" we hide Easter eggs filled with her dog food around the living room and she will hunt them out and open them. We are pretty impressed with her!

I hope you all had a fabulous week as well as a festive 4th of July! Now on to a fantastic weekend!

Banana and the bat

Today is little Ruth's Birthday
A week ago my mom and I went to target to pick out the little hot dogs costume.
We decided to pick out two in order to see who choose the cutest one
I picked a bat costume
The wings would bounce around when she walked

My mom picked a banana costume
I hate to admit it, but I think she may have picked the better costume.
She looked like a yellow smurf walking about the house

1 stick, 2 sticks 3 sticks more

Well actually there is 6 sticks
//but whose counting\\

I ventured into the hot FL woods today to gather sticks for an upcoming project
I took with me a mini saw that I ever so carefully wrapped in a grocery bag
I was going to take scissors to break the sticks off, but glad that I didn't
The sticks received a nice soap bath to remove some of the sap
I am still not sure is I am going to sand the sticks down...I kind of like the natural look

Ruth was curious about the sticks so I built her a fence that amused her for four seconds
To all the new comers to Oh Happy Day I am so blessed that you have decided to stay. I am humbled that anyone would be interested in the daily musings of an ESE teacher. Thank you once again!
Cherry on top
as I was heading back I spotted some deer that were out for a mid-afternoon snack

Crate Book Seating

I wanted to add some seating by the bookshelf in my classroom
This little crate will not only provide seating, but storage
Storage for a decent amount of books
I decided to weave ribbon through the holes
I visited Lowes..is that the blue one?
They cut the wood for a cheap price
Because Lord knows that I could not cut wood
Check out that amazing staple job.
I am in love with a staple gun!

The benefits of Coconut Oil

Ahh the wonders of coconut oil is never ending
First off coconut oil is a solid, but when warmed turns into a liquid/oil

Keeps bacteria away because of the lauric acid in the Coconut oil
Treats skin conditions helps dry irritated skin...soothes the skin
Makes hair grow faster and adds a nice luster
Coconut oil is equal to olive oil when cooking
Coconut oil boosts your metabolism
Natural nutrition for hair health
Nice moisturizing lip balm

Here is how I use coconut oil
Add a teaspoon to any smoothie
Deep hair conditioner
Skin moisturizer
Lip balm

Bonus Coconut oil is also good for your four legged friends
Plus if you love the smell of coconut than you will love this oil
Does not have an intense coconut taste

How many licks...

Ruth tried to answer the age old question
How many licks to the middle of a Tootsie Roll
Unfortunately, she lost interest before she reached the middle

Dachshund overload

Call me crazy, but there is a tiny part of me that would like to use Lisa Bensson designs in my home. I fear that instead of becoming a crazy cat lady I will be the dorky dog lady.

Peep attack

No one in my family is a huge PEEP fan! They are cute to look at, but eating a sugar coated marsh mellow chick does not sound appealing! For some odd reason we had a box of these yellow birds sitting around and of course curiosity arose which led to this...

Ruth examined the peep for quite a while
took a sniff and sneezed then walked away. I must say I was a little disapointed that she did not attack the peep.

So long 2010

The new year is upon us! I know this sounds cliche, but 2010 was a whirl wind...here, there and then gone. In keeping with tradition I will set some goals for what is to come
//FOR THE NEW YEAR\\
seek wisdom
eat more greens
read books
take in more H2O
masters degree
snap more pictures
Ruth "wanted" to start the new year squeaky clean

Goodbye Whiteness

I obtained a white shelving unit from my Aunt a couple years back and never really did anything with it except load it up with books! Well with the move and all coming up in a week I decided to give this little shelf a make over!

The colors were chosen due to my recent love of yellow and grey. I was a little worried that the grey was too dark and the yellow to bright, but I added some white//which in all reality I do not think it did anything, but it made me feel like it lightened up a bit//

//Ruth wanted to help model the new shelf//
