H54F: the one with the letter

Hello all
This week was pretty nice. First off the first glimpse of cooler air came through on Tuesday and by cooler in mean 75 degrees in the morning. Of course yesterday afternoon the humidity was outrageous, but at least cool air is in the future.
Surprise note
after grading vocabulary tests I noticed something on the back of one. A 7th grader wrote a sweet little note.
Mail call
I collect vintage Alice in Wonderland books and love anything that involves Alice. So when this advertisement from Disney came I took it as a sign that I should be visiting the happiest place on earth very soon.
One down
The first IEP of the school year was yesterday. My district took on a new IEP program which means I have to learn how to use the lovely new program.
 Hello there
I had a surprise visitor in the shower yesterday morning. I successfully managed not falling in the shower while capturing this little creature...a miracle for sure!
New Display
I like displaying student work outside of my classroom. I typically just tape the work up, but came up with this brilliant idea...clothes line student work display.
Well I hope you all had a fantastic week and a restful weekend!

H54F: The one with the before and after

Hello friends, Friday is here again! Yay!
This week had its ups and downs for sure. Thankfully, more ups than downs.
Chop, Chop, Chop
I am a good 8 pounds lighter since chopping my hair off. I love the cut, but to be completely honest my hairdresser could of given me a mow hawk and I would of been over the moon with it! The greatest thing about getting a hair cut is that my hairdresser and I talked about Honey Boo Boo Child the whole time!
Well hello there
My mom and I walked another beautiful FL bridge. We decided to have some fun and say hello to everyone we passed. Unfortunately, people are really in their element when they walk a bridge so saying hello back was asking too much of them.
 Two Downers
By the end of today I needed a little pick me up; which came in the form of frozen yogurt. Lets just say at the beginning of my day one of my lovely 8th graders could not attend a parent conference because he was throwing a fit in his mom's car (I thought temper tantrums stopped when they were no longer toddlers). Then at the end of the day a lovely 7th grader said I was pissing him off...my translation I was pushing him to do his best.
 Stress relief at its finest
Bridge walking has truly been a blessing since school began. The view, breeze and exercise is simply wonderful.
Pretty little things
De stressing through Target has its perks. Stumbled upon this little jem covered in gold polka dots. Its safe to say it found its way home with me.

H54F: the one with all the hair

Hello all, linking up again with Lauren at From My Grey Desk. This week was pretty uneventful. Isaac came and left rain as well as gave us a day off from school!

My hair is coming close to the cut off date, which is Saturday!
Oh braids!
I have decided to master all braids I have come across. This week was the reverse braid...pretty simplistic!
Oh the dramatics!
I let my students know that I was cutting my hair and they must of translated my words into I was cutting my arm off. They do not approve of this change for sure!
 Oh  Repunzell!
The length of my hair is a tad bit ridiculous!
Oh Sunsets!
A relaxing way to end any day; a walk over the bridge at sunset.
Oh Isaac!
Isaac did provide some nice weather for walking over the bridge and pretty rainbows!

H54F: Hodge Podge

Hello all, second full week of school complete. So far so good. I am loving our sixth graders this year as well as our eighth graders...the seventh graders ehh!
That being said we are getting into the routine of school ESE style...which just means at a slugs pace!
Today brought me notes around the classroom from various students. Always nice to find these after they leave!
Made my own headbands. Spending $10 for one of these in a store is a tad bit ridiculous!
After a vocabulary definition test 8th graders pulled out a book to read while they waited....and I did not even tell them too!
Starting a day at Starbucks is never a bad idea!
Well one university and a college has closed due to the potential that Isaac could bring. I am predicting that Monday will be a hurricane day...we shall see.

H54F: Hodge Podge

Happy Friday everyone! I have sucessfully made it through the first week of school...so far so good. Getting into the swing of school takes some time. Squezzing in some time for fun and relaxation is key in order to do my best in the classroom. Here is my hodge podge of pictures from this week.

 Bridge Walks
A nice way to end a busy day...plus the view is pretty nice with the sun setting.
 Tourist Stop
Living in the sunshine state is nice, but there is very little time to enjoy what everyone else comes to this state for. A little visit to an orange store with creamy orange sickle ice cream was an absolute delight!
 Donors Choose
A class set of the book Flipped was delivered this week thanks to the kind donors to my project. We started reading this book yesterday.
 Making the best of it
Taking full advantage of having my long hair before it gets hacked off. A fish tale was a must this week.
Who knew
I had no idea that left handers had their own day! I am not exactly sure why we have a day to ourselves, but its nice.

H54F: Two days down

Hello all, hope you had a great week! My week consisted of district trainings and preparing for Wednesday which was my first day of school.
Yay
Books galore
I inherited my childhood collection of The Bernstein Bears books. Oh the memories
 Open house
Goal board began with parents brainstorming a goal for their student. I had siblings join in this year. One brother wrote "Don't be stupid"
Vocab police
I was  given this name by one of my 8th graders. I have covered all my bases as well as a couple extra. No excuses this year for not knowing what is due and when
 Lunch packing
I have forgotten how wonderful a turkey sandwich can taste.
Classroom rules
Students started the year by defining each of our five rules for the year. Yes, one of our rules is stay classy

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

H54F: All things school

Well, I am officially in the school routine...at least pre-school routine:
Meetings
trainings
procedures
classroom set-up

3 hour smart board training
Lets just say I felt less than smart leaving this training. Great ideas, but unfortunately there were about 3 million ideas being thrown at us during this time.
Classroom supplies
The smell of fresh crayola crayons is amazing...enough said
 Puzzle Lamp
Saw this cool lamp at Ikea. Little did I know that the lamp was made out of puzzle pieces.
 Banner TLC
Finally had the time to cover my banners with fabric. Now they look pretty from the front and the back
Completed Classroom
My room is complete and I love the outcome. For not having any windows it does not look that shabby.

Happy Friday everyone...Off to open house tomorrow!

H54F: The beginning of it all

Another high five for Friday From My Grey Desk. This week was completely different than last. First off teachers started back on Wednesday! Students come on August 8th! Goodbye summer hello school year!
 {Lots to do lots to do}
Summer's last breakfast with my mom and sister
Like I said before I will miss summer time breakfast the most. It's my favorite meal of the day and this joy is completely gone during the school year... although there is the weekend!
Ruth's hot pink nail polish
My sister and I decided to give Ruth a mini manicure and yes we only painted one nail. Ruth is deciding if she likes the look of painted nails.
 Danger Zone
Less than 24hrs back in town and I find myself here. The good news is that I can only spend about 20 minutes in this store...it's a tad bit overwhelming!
Power Tools
I bought my first drill to hang this mesh shelving unit...and truth be told I plan on returning the drill now that its hung...Why can't you rent a drill?
Classroom Beginnings
I am back in my windowless classroom. Bland walls will soon be jazzed up with some color. The current state of the classroom resembles yucky cold oatmeal.

H54F: Summer Endings

Hello last week of Summer
Yep, that's right I have to report back to school on Wednesday,

So for this High Five for Friday From my Grey Desk I am bringing you all the joys of summer!
 The Beach
My goal this school year is to make it out there once a month
 Watching Rue
perfect the art of lizard hunting
 Breakfast
Yes, I will miss enjoying breakfast at my own time because starting next Wednesday my meals will be on a schedule.
 Time for projects
My list of little DIYs has gotten shorter, but throughout the school year the list will grow and I will wait for summer again.
Fun little trips
My time mostly will consist of school thinking and little excursions will happen less.

I hope you all had a wonderful week and are enjoying your summer!

H54F: A little of this and that

To be honest everyday feels like Friday during summer and to be completely honest I am a little ready to get back into the swing of things!
Summer is usually pretty predictable and the school year well...
 Florida summers means afternoon storms
hello downpour
 Walks with Rue
when it is not raining
 Games with the family
I lost at Skip-bo
Projects inspired by pinterest of course
Trips to cute little places like The Lollicake Queen

and today on this Friday a visit to the beach
Sad to say I live 20 minutes from a beach and this is my second time venturing out there.

Hope your week was lovely as well!
